Mission Statement, School Vision, & About the Principal: Our Mission

School Vision

All children can learn within an engaging, supportive, and challenging learning environment. All students will express themselves, engage in complex tasks, discuss their thoughts and feelings with their peers and teachers, and explore their talents through various means and experiences.

Staff will educate the whole child, by providing a variety of experiences, through literacy, the arts, sciences, mathematics, and physical education, so that all students can find their passion and talent in the world.   We believe that we are a community of learners and a community of leaders.

We strive to change the world around us by becoming a leader in an area of our choosing and expressing our leadership through speaking, listening to others, and our actions. Through these means, our school thrives and grows in a multitude of ways, and every day our students positively impact their lives and the lives of others.

About the Principal

Eric Grande has been principal of PS 56 since May of 2016.  Prior to arriving at PS 56, he was an assistant principal in District 7, Bronx for 5 years.  In the classroom, he was a 5th grade general education and middle school technology teacher.  His focus is on the fostering of authentic teaching and learning, the infusion of arts and music, Wellness initiatives throughout the school, and other efforts, which in turn results in an enriching educational experience for all children.

He enjoys his free time with his family, playing guitar, and listening to talk radio!
